Diabetes management classes to be offered

Diabetes Management Solutions will hold a series of diabetes self-management classes at the Mount Olive Walmart beginning in February. The free classes will be taught by certified diabetes educators.
To attend the three-class clinical series, though, a physician's referral is required. Three sessions of this three-part series will be held, all from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The first session will be Feb. 7, 14 and 28; the second will be March 13, 20 and 27; the third will be April 3, 10 and 17. These classes will focusing on practical diabetes skills, lifestyle goals and group empowerment.
Then, each month, a Saturday class will be opened to the public. These will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 11, March 10 and April 14. These classes will focus on lifestyle changes that can reduce people's risk for diabetes, as well as an interactive tour through the food section to provide information on healthy choices.
