Victim shot in the leg
Goldsboro police are investigating an incident in which a 26-year-old was shot in the leg on the 700 block of East Ash Street on Jan. 18.
According to the report, police found Donnie Cox Jr. of Wayne Memorial Drive in front of Jackson-Hewitt Tax Service just before 6 p.m. with what looked to be a gunshot wound to his lower right leg.
Cox told police that a white male in a green Tahoe shot him with an unknown firearm.
Cox was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
Theft at health department
The Wayne County Health Department building, 301 N. Herman St., was targeted by thieves between Jan. 13 and Jan. 18.
Employee Brian Darby reported that unknown suspect(s) removed 25 feet of copper tubing, valued at $400, from the building's a/c unit. The damage caused during the theft was listed at another $400.
