Brothers apprehended by deputies
Two Johnston County brothers were arrested Saturday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on charges of theft.
Mack McCuiston Carter, 53, and Charles Craig Carter, 51, both of Smithfield, were charged with two counts of felony larceny, two counts of felony possession of stolen property and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.
The men were taken into custody after a call was received by authorites that two suspicious males were removing electric motors and metal cast pumps from a residence in the 300 block of River Road in Seven Springs.
Investigators determined that Saturday's alleged theft was not the only time the men have removed property from the site.
Mack Carter was placed under a $22,500 bond and Charles Carter was placed under a $25,000 bond.
Man bites off
foe's fingertip
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office responded to an assault call at about 4 p.m. Monday at Smith Trailer Park in Dudley.
During the incident, Hernandez Primitivo, 25, allegedly bit off the tip of the left ring finger, above the first knuckle, belonging to Adanais Ortis, 29.
Both men live in the 100 block of Smith Trailer Park.
According to the report, Primitivo freely admitted to deputies of fighting with Ortis and biting off his finger tip.
Primitivo was charged with assault inflicting bodily injury and placed under a $500 bond.
B&Es and larcenies
*Timothy Harper reported the theft of an SKS rifle, valued at $500, from his vehicle between Sunday and Monday while it was in the 300 block of Brogden Street in Dudley. The back window of his 1987 Chevrolet Camero was broken out by the suspect(s) to gain entry.
*Ricardo Bautista reported the break-in to his vehicle and the theft of a .38 handgun, valued at $730, from the glove box. The theft took place between Jan 1. and Jan. 9. at Bautista's residence in the 1500 block of Indian Springs Road in Mount Olive.
*CSX employee Edward Killette reported the break-in of a CSX tool building in the 100 block of Sherman Street. The stolen property included a $1,000 generator, $200 chain saw, $1,000 bonding drill, $2,500 generator, $600 socket set, $300 flash light and other property. The theft occurred between Friday and Sunday The building had been entered by a suspect(s) prying open the doors.
*Ofeli Martin reported the break-in to her home in the 900 block of Herring Road in Dudley that occurred between Jan. 6 and Jan. 9. The suspect(s) pried open a back door of the home and removed two TVs, a printer, a GPS unit and two computers. The total value of the stolen property was more than $2,000.
*Betty Overman reported the theft of a $3,500 a/c unit from outside of her home in the 100 block of Cassidy Court in LaGrange that occurred in the last two weeks.
City Fire Report
The Goldsboro Fire Department responded to a total of 40 calls during the week of Dec. 30 to Jan. 5.
Of all the calls made, 12 were assists to Wayne County Emergency Services, nine were to vehicle accidents and seven were false alarms.
The department responded to no structure fires during the week-long period.
Firefighters responded to a call at 2101 N. William St. Jan. 1 around 11:15 p.m. for a fire that had started on a woman's stove and was confined to the cooking container. When firefighters arrived, the pot that contained the fire had been taken outside by a resident. Firefighters performed ventilation to remove the smoke that was in the apartment and hallway.
On Jan. 5, firefighters were called to a burning Christmas tree in an open lot at 115 Woods Mill Road around 3 a.m. According to the incident report, the home owner informed firefighters that the Christmas tree had been brought to the location and set on fire by a unknown person(s) for an unknown reason.
