Bullets fired into occupied home
Goldsboro police responded to a home in the 1700 block of Maple St. around 2:30 a.m. after several bullets had entered the residence.
One of the residents of the home, Tekoach Thompson, told authorities he was sleeping when he heard several shots fired and glass breaking.
Police found where four bullets had struck the home. Two bullets had traveled through a front window, one of which went through two walls and the other went into the refrigerator.
No suspects have been identified.
Suspect escapes police after chase
A suspect eluded three Goldsboro Police officers after running a red light and taking them on a "high-speed chase" through downtown Goldsboro Dec. 31 at 9:30 p.m.
An officer attempted to stop a subject in a 1999 Infiniti after the driver failed to stop at a red light. The subject did not stop for the blue lights and attempted to elude the patrol car, leading the officer on a high-speed chase down Center, John and Oak streets.
The initial officer lost sight of the vehicle, but a second patrol vehicle picked up the chase again further west from where the suspect was lost. A third patrol car joined the chase and both officers watched as the suspect failed to stop at numerous stop signs and ran off the road, striking a porch at 405 N. Carolina St. The suspect continued to flee down Virginia Street, but lost control and ran off the roadway, at about 45 mph, striking a mailbox and sliding into a fence at 307 Brownrigg Street.
The second officer also pulled off the road and slid, running into the rear of the suspect's vehicle.
The suspect then fled on foot and was not found.
Speeds in the chase reached 80 miles per hour.
B&E and larcenies
*A $30,000 Kubota front-end loader and other property were stolen from Goldsboro Rent-It, 4270 U.S. 70 E., between Monday night and Tuesday morning. An employee reported that the suspect(s) cut the lock to a chain-link fence behind the business and removed the loader and a 7,000-pound trailer, valued at $3,500, from the property. The window to a flat-bed truck had also been broken by the suspect.
*Billy Howell reported the theft of $7,000 from a drawer in a bedroom of his home in the 100 block of Pate Circle. The theft occurred between Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. Howell told authorities that his wife passed away in early December and left the money in the drawer. The currency was in one-hundred dollar bills.
*Luis Carreno reported a break-in at his home in the 100 block of Old State Road 1909 that occurred between Dec. 28 and Tuesday. Entry was gained by breaking the latches of a side window while Carreno and his family were in Mexico. The stolen property included a TV, laptop, jewelry and video game console. The total value of the stolen goods was more than $2,000.
Buses vandalized
*Robert Britt, of Wayne County Public Schools, reported the damage to three windows of an activity bus, which belongs to the school district, while the vehicle was parked at 2001 E. Royall Ave. The damage occurred between Dec. 20 and Tuesday. The damage was caused by someone throwing items at the windows. The total value of the damaged property was listed at $750.
*Mary Bill reported damage to a bus belonging to Rosewood First Baptist Church that is located at 562 N.C. 581 S. Someone broke four windows of the church bus. The incident occurred between Sunday and Tuesday. The value of the stolen property was listed at $100.
