Students accused of drinking, weapon possession
*Juvenile petitions were filed on a 12-year-old girl at Rosewood Middle School who was allegedly found to be in possession of a Mountain Dew bottle containing alcohol. The incident was reported by Kevin Smith of Wayne County Schools. The girl told authorities that she brought the bottle from home, knew that it had alcohol in it and thought the liquor was tequila. The report notes that the bottle had what appeared to be a worm inside of it.
*A 12-year-old boy will be charged in teen court for allegedly possessing brass knuckles on school property. Tatale Nelson, the assistant principle of Mount Olive Middle School, was informed the student was in possession of the item and called him into her office where he handed over the weapon.
Business larcenies
*Two unidentified men are accused of stealing more than $1,100 of clothing from Citi-Trends, a clothing store at 211 N. Berkeley Blvd.
According to store manager Marica Cox, the men entered the store around 8 p.m., briefly looked around, then grabbed a large amount of clothing, including 37 pairs of blue jeans, and ran out of the store. The men entered a white mini-van in the parking lot and sped away.
*Sky Light mini-mart, located at 720 E. Ash St., was broken into early Tuesday morning. Goldsboro police officers responded to an alarm to find a suspect(s) had used a pry to pull down the Lexan glass of the front door to gain entry. Once inside, the suspect stole 30 packs of cigarettes, valued at $138.
ATV stolen
Morris Hill, of Kinston, reported the theft of a $3,500 Artic Cat ATV with four flat tires from his farm property in the area of Rockford Church Road and Budd Fields Road in LaGrange. The suspect(s) broke into a barn to remove the property.
