Dudley Fire Department Capt. Cary Hughes works his way through the remains of a house fire Sunday morning on Jill Court in Dudley. Firefighters from Dudley, Arrington and Mar-Mac responded to the fire shortly after 7 a.m. Homeowner Reta McGuire was awakened by a fire alarm and managed to get out safely. The home and its contents, valued at about $150,000, were a total loss. An outdoor fire pit at the rear of the home was believed to be the cause of the fire.
