When the Goldsboro City Council convenes for its first December meeting tonight, it will discuss a relatively light agenda that includes 11 items -- all on the consent agenda -- and a presentation from Becky Minchew of IMPACT Missions.

The council's work session will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Annex and the regular meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the council chambers in the old City Hall meeting room.

The consent agenda contains two items that will grant conditional use permits for two entrepreneurs seeking to open up Internet cafes/sweepstakes centers in the city, as well as set up a public hearing date for the voluntary annexation of a little more than 10 acres of land on the north side of Windsor Creek Parkway into the city limits.

The site and landscape plans for a 14,480-square-foot medical office building on the east side of Wayne Memorial Drive between Cox Boulevard and Country Day Road are also on the consent agenda. The building is part of Wayne Memorial Hospital's campus expansion.

A farm lease agreement with Wiggins Farms, and bids for sidewalk repair and debris removal from Hurricane Irene's aftermath are also on the agenda, along with a re-certification application with Tree City USA.

The acceptance of a recreation equipment donation from Good Sport of 120 reversible jerseys, basketballs and kick balls valued at $3,165.95, the certification of firefighters for membership in a pension fund program and a state controlled substance tax remittance round out the consent agenda.

Ms. Minchew is expected to discuss IMPACT, an initiative led by her in partnership with Whitley Church to give supplies to needy children in Goldsboro's government housing projects.
