Thanksgiving closings

While stores are gearing up for a late Thursday night or early Friday morning opening for holiday sales, federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Thursday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. State and some local offices will be closed Thursday and Friday including Wayne County, Goldsboro city offices, town halls in Mount Olive, Fremont, Walnut Creek and Pikeville and the Wayne County Senior Center. The county landfill and convenience centers were closed Wednesday as usual and on Thursday, but will be open on Friday. The GATEWAY bus system will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The urban bus system will operate on a holiday schedule Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. However, office staff will not be available Friday to process reservations. The Wayne County Health Department will be closed Thursday and Friday.
