Holiday closings planned for city, county

Federal offices, banks and post offices will be closed Thursday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. State and some local offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Wayne County offices, with the exception of the landfill and convenience centers, will be closed both days. The landfill and convenience centers will be closed Wednesday as usual and on Thursday, but will be open on Friday.
Goldsboro city offices will be closed Thursday and Friday as well. All sanitation services for Thursday will be serviced on Wednesday, and all sanitation services for Friday will be serviced on Saturday.
Wayne County Public Schools will dismiss classes early on Wednesday, with the exception of Wayne Early Middle College High and Wayne School of Engineering, which will not have classes that day. There is no school on Thursday or Friday.
Mount Olive Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday and its recyclable center will be closed Thursday through Monday. OCS will be closed Thursday and will operate on a one-day delay. It will run its Thursday garbage route on Friday and will make Friday's run on Saturday.
Town halls in Fremont, Walnut Creek and Pikeville will all be closed Thursday and Friday. Eureka Town Hall will be closed on Thursday.
Recyclables will be picked up on Friday in Walnut Creek and garbage will be picked up Friday in Pikeville.
The GATEWAY bus system will be closed Thanksgiving Day. People requesting van service for Nov. 25, 26 and 28 must call the GATEWAY office by 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 to schedule transportation.
The urban bus system will operate on a holiday schedule on Nov. 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. However, office staff will not be available Nov. 25 to process reservations. People requesting van service for Nov. 29 must call the GATEWAY office by 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 to schedule transportation.
The Wayne County Health Department will be closed Thursday. Like other county offices operating on a four-day-workweek, it will close Friday.
The Wayne County Senior Center will be closed Thursday and Friday.
