MOUNT OLIVE -- Agents with the IRS Criminal Investigation Division Wednesday morning raided the MB Insurance and Tax Services office at 507 N. Breazeale Ave.
According to information on the office's water bill, the business is listed as Regalado Insurance-Tax Service and the mailing address is Warsaw Road in Clinton.
Chief of Police Brian Rhodes said it also was his understanding that agents raided the company's offices in Smithfield and Clinton.
Law enforcement officials were briefed on the raid Tuesday afternoon and staged at the Mount Olive courtroom Wednesday morning, Rhodes said.
Mount Olive police were not involved in the raid, but did secure the building and provided security for the IRS personnel while they executed the search warrant, Rhodes said.
Police had earlier provided surveillance of the office for the IRS, he said.
Rhodes said he was not at liberty to provide additional information about the case or what the agents were searching for.
The officers began the search about 9 a.m. and finished by about 12:30 p.m., he said.
Rhodes said he did not know if the office had been shut down, but that it did not appear to be open this morning.
