Woman involved in accidental shooting

As a 49-year-old Goldsboro woman was preparing to wash her bed sheets around 8 p.m. Saturday when a firearm fell out of the bed and onto the floor, where it then discharged and struck the woman's leg with a bullet, according to a Goldsboro police report.

The woman, of Laurel Avenue, told police she had forgotten the Phoenix P-51 .21 automatic pistol was in the bed.

The woman was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for the gun shot wound and police seized the firearm for safe keeping.
