Boys and Girls Homes want adoptive, foster parents

Boys and Girls Homes of N.C., a non-profit organization working to promote awareness of the devastating effects of child abuse and neglect in Southeastern North Carolina, is looking for foster and adoptive parents who are dedicated to assuring that foster and adoptive children get the love, support, and commitment they need to grow into healthy, successful adults.
Requirements to become a foster and/or adoptive parent with Boys & Girls Homes of N.C. are: attendees must be over the age of 21; pass a criminal history check and federal background check; complete training of 36 hours with Boys & Girls Homes of N.C.; complete physicals and TB tests; and pass a fire inspection of their residence. They must also have adequate living space, demonstrate adequate income to meet the needs of their own family, have their own transportation, and the ability to work as a team. In addition, they must have a high school diploma or GED. Most importantly though, beyond basic requirements, a successful foster/adoptive parent needs to have determination, patience, humor, and love for children, regardless of their background.
Boys & Girls Homes of NC, Inc. will be hosting an open house and informational meeting on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. The necessary trainings will begin Sept. 6 and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Both the open house and the classes are located at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church, 201 Fayetteville St., Clinton, NC 28328.
