An altercation that began when a man's girlfriend was allegedly groped inside a local nightclub led to a vicious assault early Saturday morning, according to a Goldsboro Police Department report.
Marquis Chardon Thomas, 27, was beaten and stabbed by three unidentified black men at Teaser's Nightclub after he confronted the person his girlfriend said touched her inappropriately.
When police arrived at the scene, Thomas was on the floor -- his face badly swollen -- and was coughing up blood as a result of what law enforcement identified as multiple stab wounds to the abdomen.
According to the report, Thomas was assaulted in the face before being stabbed several times near the right side of his rib cage by a broken glass bottle.
Shortly after he was discovered by first responders, he was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital -- as of press time, hospital officials had not returned calls regarding the victim's condition.
Police are currently investigating the incident and no arrests, as of Saturday evening, have been made.
Those with information regarding the assault are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
