Stray gunfire almost strikes child in home
The mother of a 6-year-old child boy was sleeping on couch when a bullet came through a window of the home around 11 p.m. Sunday night and struck a pillow on which the child was lying.
Shamell Weeks said several of her neighbors' homes in the 900 block Carver Drive, in the Lincoln Homes community, were also struck by the stray gunfire.
Ms. Weeks said her other child, a 3-year-old, was also in the home.
According to a Goldsboro police report, "a bullet was found inside the pillow the child was laying on."
Ms. Weeks said she immediately lay flat in the hallway of her home when she heard the gunfire outside. She then heard glass shatter as two bullets entered her home.
Ms. Weeks said the gunfire came into her home three years to the day after her children's father was killed by gunfire in Goldsboro.
