Man injured in Friday shooting
A Goldsboro man has been taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds he received around 2 a.m. Friday morning.
Miguel Valdez Phillips, 23, of East New Hope Road, was found by Goldsboro police at 806 Olivia Lane shortly after being shot.
The shooting appears to have taken place on the perimeter of Lincoln Homes, a housing community of Goldsboro Housing Authority.
According to a report, police found Phillips laying on the ground outside of a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Phillips' injuries include a bullet trapped in his abdomen, police said Friday afternoon.
The Phillips' family requested no information be released on his condition at Pitt Memorial, hospital personnel said Saturday morning.
Police were able to identify the weapon used in the shooting as a handgun by the shell casing(s) found at the scene.
The police report did not provide who reported the shooting.
The police did have any suspects as of press time.
