Motorists in the central and eastern sections of North Carolina are urged to use extra caution while driving as the combination of wildfires and high summer temperatures have created a hazy condition that is limiting visibility along roadways.
Crews are battling large wildfires in Pender, Dare and Hyde counties, and the National Weather Service says smoke from the fires is expected to continue to spread across central North Carolina through the afternoon and into the evening and will reduce visibility at times.
If motorists encounter smoky or hazy conditions that limit visibility, they should turn on their headlights and use extra caution.
