Alejandro Lugo, 12, splashes into Peacock Pool on Monday to get some relief from the heat. Today is the first day of summer, but temperatures already have been in the 90s for weeks, with little relief on the horizon. The state Department of Labor is urging anyone spending time outdoors this week to use caution, drink plenty of fluids and protect themselves against direct exposure to the sun, especially during the middle of the day.
