Two charged in Mar Mac assault and robbery
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrested a man and woman May 19 on charges of assault and robbery.
Alec Christopher Grant, 27, of Sandhill Drive, and Adeline Marie Reeves, 25, of Ridge Road in Angier, have each been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The charges stem from a May 6 incident on Sandhill Drive in Mar Mac that sent a 27-year-old man to the hospital after he was beaten with a pipe.
The victim was released from the Wayne Memorial Hospital after being treated for a broken nose and ribs, said authorities.
Armed robbery at Best Value Inn
A 26-year-old man reported to Goldsboro police that he was robbed at gun point in the stairwell of Best Value Inn at 701 U.S. 70 East around 2:40 p.m. Monday. The man claimed being robbed by two men of the $2,100 he was carrying in his pocket. The man told police he had plans to purchase a vehicle later in the day.
Fremont mother and son receive marijuana charges
Deborah Boswell, 51, and her son Bruce Kyles, 22, both of East Main Street, Fremont, were charged by the Fremont Police Department after officers found marijuana plants sunning in the window of their home.
Both suspects were charged May 18 with manufacturing marijuana, maintaining dwelling and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Chief Paul Moats, who was sworn in less than two months ago, said the search and seizure at the home stemmed from a citizen complaint received the day before.
"It shows a bond between the citizens and the police department." Moats said. "This is our first search since I have been at the police department and, it certainly won't be the last"
