Mychayla Sariah Allen, 16, of Woodcroft Drive, was arrested Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for filing a false report to a law enforcement agency.

Ms. Allen, a student at Charles B. Aycock, is accused of fabricating a story that she was the victim of a first-degree kidnapping.

She claimed in a police report filed Tuesday that she was approached by a Hispanic man while she was in the parking lot of Hardee's in Pikeville where she had stopped for breakfast around 7:30 a.m.

According to the report, Ms. Allen told authorities that the man pointed a gun at her and told her to drive to various places, most of which were unfamiliar to her. She told authorities that she was crying and very upset during the incident and that she was slapped by the Hispanic man.

Ms. Allen said the route included driving down Main Street in Pikeville and past Sandpiper Seafood restaurant in Kinston.

The ride ended, Ms. Allen said, when the man told her to drive down a dirt road, where he exited the vehicle and told her to go and not turn around.

A second report released by the Sheriff's Office states that Ms. Allen claimed the drive lasted for several hours, took place in Wayne, Duplin and Lenoir counties.

Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the Pikeville Police Department interviewed Ms. Allen and discovered several discrepancies during the questioning.

Ms. Allen later admitted that she made up the story because school officials had contacted her mother and told her that she was not in school that day.
