Cars stolen
Two cars were reported as stolen to Goldsboro police last week in what appeared to be separate incidents.
Paul Bryant, 66 of North Taylor Street said he parked his black Ford Taurus at a church on Slocumb Street. The car was having transmission issues, so he left it there only to return and find it gone. Thinking it had been towed by the city, he waited for a city official to make contact with him about retrieving it, but never heard any news and finally contacted police to report it as stolen. Bryant said the car was not drivable when he left it.
A Hispanic man went to Chevy Cadillac of Goldsboro claiming to be with DAB Auto Brokers in Wake Forest. He said he was to pick up a burgundy Ford Ranger, and CCOG workers allowed him to load the truck onto his trailer. Weeks later, DAB Auto Brokers contacted CCOG to determine why the car hadn't been delivered. CCOG reimbursed DAB and reported the truck as stolen.
Child struck by vehicle
A 3-year-old was sent to Wayne Memorial Hospital after Katrina Jones, 20 of Hugh Street struck her with her vehicle.
Jaemion Mitchell of LaGrange ran into the road as Ms. Jones was driving down Wayne Avenue. A witness reported that there was no way Ms. Jones could have seen the child because of parked cars lining the road.
Gunshot victim's car burns
When Goldsboro police officers responded to a report of a car accident, they found the driver of the car in the driver's seat with gunshot wound and his car burning.
Officers immediately put the fire out and identified Darryl Williams, Jr., 22, of South John Street. The officer reported it was likely that Williams was shot during an altercation near the area. Williams drove his car into a pole and damaged a parked car. Investigation into the event is ongoing.
Dogs stolen
Howard Croom, 57, of Stephens Street told Goldsboro Police that three dogs were taken from his unfenced backyard without permission.
Croom said two two-month-old Chows named Pebbles and Bam Bam and a one-year-old pit bull named Grace were stolen when he left the dogs outside.
