The City Council did not adjourn its Monday night meeting, but instead decided to recess until Thursday at 3 p.m. at which point it reconvened only to go into closed session for about an hour to discuss a property acquisition.
During the council's work session Monday, it went into closed session to discuss a property acquisition and a personnel matter. While the personnel matter was confirmed to be concerning the search for a city manager, Mayor Al King and City Manager Tasha Logan both declined to speak on what the property acquisition concerned.
Later on in the work session, the council went into closed session for about 15 minutes to discuss the city's contract with the Arts Council of Wayne County. When it opened back up, the city decided to cancel its contract with the Arts Council and renegotiate a new one.
Mayor King said Thursday's meeting was a continuation of the council's general session. The council came out of closed session just after 4 p.m. and chose to recess until its scheduled budget work session Tuesday at 11 a.m. The property acquisition will be discussed at that time as well.
