The body of 10-year-old drowning victim Henry Javregui was found by a search team around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, ending a six-day search.

The boy drowned while fishing April 10 with his father and brother near Hardy Bridge over the Neuse River in western Lenoir County. His body was found about 500 yards from the bridge.

The boy was a student at West Greene Central Middle School.

Search teams from Lenoir, Wayne and Sampson counties, along with members of special search teams as far away as Burlington and Fayetteville took part in the search. Both sonar and specially trained dogs were involved. At times, the search was carried on for 24-hour stretches.

Maj. Chris Hill of the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office released the following statement, "This ends a very long and exhausting recovery effort on the part of many volunteer fire departments, and county and state agencies."

The boy was fishing within a few hundred feet of the bridge with his father, Edwardo Hernadez Castilla of Snow Hill, and his 7-year-old brother when he apparently stepping into a hole and was carried under by the current.

The river was surging at that point from recent rains.
