Some of the events planned at the Wayne County Public Library during National Library Week are:

Jazz pianist Jim Martinez, from Sacramento, Calif., returns to the Goldsboro library with vocalist Laura Didier to present music from the major bands and discuss their famous leaders. There will be a PowerPoint presentation interspersed with hits like "In the Mood," "Intermission Riff" and "Stompin' at the Savoy."

* Saturday, April 16 -- 2 p.m. WRAL's "Tar Heel Traveler" Scott Mason. In this presentation, he celebrates the colorful characters, out-of-the-way places, and rich history of North Carolina. He will share with audiences the stories behind the stories. This program is made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

A Comics Creator Contest will be held for ages 12-18. Entries are due Monday, April 11, and all winners will receive a prize pack.
