Local blood sponsors recognized nationally

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Sam's Club, the State Employees Credit Union, Wayne Memorial Hospital and First Pentecostal Holiness Church were five of the hundreds of blood drive sponsors recognized in the March 17 edition of USA Today.
The full-page sponsor list thanked everyone who helped the blood supply recover after thousands of drives were canceled due to the severe winter weather. It stated that almost 125,000 units of blood were collected when they were urgently needed.
Blood sponsors were recognized from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
