Alleged copper thieves caught
Three men were taken into custody Friday on charges of stealing copper wire and other items from a cell tower construction site on U.S. 13 South.
Upon hearing the call, investigators with the Sheriff's Office responded to the site and received a sample of the wire reported as stolen. The investigation led to the suspects being apprehended at a local salvage yard
Some of the stolen items were returned to the owner.
The men were charged with felony larceny and possession of stolen property and held under a $7,000 bond.
The men are Michael Christopher Griffith, 28, of Toms Road, Dudley;
Jimmy Chadwick Sutton, 35, of Westbrook Church Road, Mount Olive; and Donald Ray Williamson, 35, of Bryan Boulevard.
