Wayne County students win in 2011 Arts Festival

Wayne County had several student winners in the 2011 Arts Festival sponsored by District 8 of the General Federation of Women's Club North Carolina. The competition was held Feb. 19 in New Bern.
A preliminary contest was held in January by the Goldsboro Junior Woman's Club and first-place winners went on to district competition.
First-place winners at the district level were:
*Alexis Gonzalez, Brogden Middle School, mixed media
*Wuilmer Valesquez Roblero, Brogden Middle School, graphite pencil drawing
*Jennifer Jeronimo, Mount Olive Middle School, ceramics
*Taylor Malpass, Mount Olive Middle School, acrylic/oil painting
* Alex Hester Parrish, Mount Olive Middle School, pastel painting
* Jesus Hermandez, Rosewood High School, mixed media
* Jo Turner, Spring Creek High School, charcoal drawing
* Sterling Coggins, Wayne County Day School, computer graphics
*Bryce Creger, Wayne Country Day School, photography digitally enhanced
These students will advance to the State Arts Festival to be held March 12 at Campbell University.
