The Wayne County Health Department will offer free flu shots clinics over the next two weekends at local high schools.
The first clinic will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at Southern Wayne High School. The second will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at Charles B. Aycock High School.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The shots will be free to the parent or guardian but please bring proof of Medicaid, Blue Cross BlueShield or Health Choice if the child/adult has these services. Individuals having Medicare should also bring their card with them.
There are some restrictions in certain categories, where children should not be vaccinated, including those with a severe allergy to chicken eggs or have had a severe reaction to the flu shot in the past; children with Guillain-Barre syndrome, less than 6 months old or who have a moderate illness or fever.
