Murder trial continues in county

Testimony continues today in the trial of a Wayne County man charged in connection with a September 2007 murder in Mount Olive.
Winsor Ingram, who turns 24 years old today, is on trial for first-degree murder in connection with the death of Tomorris Njai Rayor.
The trial started this week in Wayne County Superior Court.
Raynor died from gunshot wounds he received outside a relative's home on Kornegay Street. Ingram has been jailed for more than three years waiting for trial.
After a jury was chosen on Monday, Assistant District Attorney Matthew Delbridge and defense attorney Charles Gurley took turns questioning the nearly 10 people who took the witness stand Tuesday. They included a girl who was 11 years old at the time and an inmate serving time in a federal penitentiary in Virginia.
During the testimony, a witness said he had heard Ingram say that he had shot Raynor. He also said he Raynor pointed a shotgun at another person the day before he was killed.
On Wednesday, Mount Olive Police Department Detective C.J. Weaver took the witness stand late in the day. Before he was questioned, Delbridge provided Weaver with a cardboard box of evidence taken from the scene of the incident.
From the box, Weaver took an evidence bag that contained a plastic bag that contained crack cocaine. The substance was taken from Raynor's right hand after he was shot.
Weaver said there was enough of the illegal drug to exceed the amount needed for personal use.
Testimony was to continue today. Special Superior Court Judge Jack Jenkins from Morehead City is presiding over the case.
