Next 'Look Good ... Feel Better' program Jan. 24

When you're undergoing cancer treatment, it's hard to feel normal.. but experts say if you look good, you'll feel better. In fact "Look Good ... Feel Better," an outreach program through the American Cancer Society, has helped nearly 500,000 women do just that. The Wayne County Unit of the American Cancer Society is now offering this free program designed to help women undergoing cancer treatments with the cosmetic effects associated with chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The next session will be held on Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Hospital in the Human Resource Conference Room. Registration is required and seats are limited.
The "Look Good ... Feel Better" program teaches women to overcome appearance-related side effects such as hair loss, changes in complexion and weakened fingernails.
Specially trained, cosmetologists facilitate the sessions and teach each woman how to enhance her appearance using make-up techniques by applying makeup using a complimentary make-up kit provided at the session. There is no charge for the sessions and the complete make-up kit is hers' to take home.
The "Look Good ... Feel Better" session will also include instruction on how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans scarves and accessories, as well as treating dry skin and brittle nails.
