Alexander David Lloyd of Goldsboro and Jacob Alan Richards of Mount Olive were each recently awarded $750 scholarships from the William Harding Scholarship Fund.
Alex is attending N.C. State University and Jacob is attending Lenoir Community College. Both are Eagle Scouts.
The awards were given to Alex and Jacob for their outstanding scholarly achievements and exemplary community and church involvement as members of the Boy Scouts of America in the Tuscarora Council, Torhunta District.
The awards were presented to Alex and Jacob by William Harding's parents, Dr. Robert Harding and Mrs. Tommie Anne Arnette. These are the 10th such awards granted since the inception of the scholarship fund, which was established in memory of Will Harding.
The fund was created to assist members of the Boy Scouts in pursuing their higher educational endeavors and recognizes young men that have benefited from their participation in the scouting program.
The scholarship is awarded annually and is supported by local contributions to the fund through the Boy Scouts of America.
Contributions may be sent to the William Harding Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 248, Goldsboro, NC 27533-0248. For more information, call Bob Logan at 735-1341.
