Shots fired into GATEWAY office
Goldsboro police are investigating vandalism at the GATEWAY dispatch office on North Madison Avenue in which someone fired a weapon into the building.
According to police someone fired three shots through the end window of the building and into the dispatch office about 5:43 a.m. on Sunday.
The bullets went through the wall from the dispatch office into the reception area and two bullets went into the end wall. No one was at the office at the time.
GATEWAY Director Alan Stubbs received a call from the alarm company and met the police on the scene. No other damage was detected to the facility or the vehicles.
Robbery, assault
Three masked men assaulted a Goldsboro man Sunday morning while robbing him of $1,570 in cash.
Cesar Gustauo Lamar, 61, Goldleaf Drive, told deputies he was returning home from work around 4:30 Sunday morning when three people, all dressed in black and wearing masks, ran up to him and said they were police.
One suspect pointed a handgun at Lemar who starting fighting with them, one of whom said, "We need to kill him now." The suspects took Lamar's cell phone when he attempted to call 911. One suspect kicked Lamar in the face and reached into Lamar's pocket taking the money.
Lamar's wife, Claudina, heard the commotion and came outside. The suspects took her cell phone, too.
The suspects were last seen running towards Ryan Boulevard.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies reported the following investigations:
*Tonya Biggs, 37, U.S. 70 West, reported the theft of a number of items following a break-in at her home. The items taken and their values were, Wii game console, $400; Guitar Hero game, $180; 20 assorted DVD's, $200; cell phone, $80; and iPod, $200.
* Close to $2,000 worth of items were stolen from the vehicle of Alton Casey O'Brien Moore, 20, Speights Bridge Road, Stantonsburg. Vashua Davis, 21, Pikeville-Princeton Road was listed as the second victim. Taken were car stereo, $70; amp, $200; amp $800; two speakers, $450; marine battery, $80; shop heater, $30 and two wood speaker boxes, $300.
* Bob Braswell, 71, Lake Wackena Road, reported a break-in at his home in which $700 in cash and Civil War era calvary swords valued at $3,000 were taken. Damages totaled $75 to a window frame.
* Vandals did $2,500 in damages to the vehicle of Kendall Lee Hoggard, 18, Johnson Branch Road. The windshield was broken and the driver's door and roof were dented.
