Fremont Fire Department gets grant

FREMONT -- The Fremont Fire Department has been awarded a $20,256 grant through the North Carolina Volunteer Fire Department Fund.
The money will be used to purchase new equipment.
The grant funds must be matched by local funding.
The Fremont department has received a total of $83,478 from the Volunteer Fire Department Fund since the fund was created 23 years ago by the state legislature.
Since the program's inception, the state Department of Insurance has distributed more than $73 million to volunteer fire departments across the state.
