This video capture shows a man suspected of robbing the RBC Centura Bank on North Spence Aven.

Goldsboro police are searching for a bank robber who struck the RBC Centura Bank at 106 N. Spence Ave. about 4 p.m. Monday.

Police would not say this morning how the man fled the bank, but a report said he was traveling west when last seen. He reportedly was riding a bicycle.

Police surrounded a wooded area around Stoney Creek and used a state Highway Patrol helicopter to search the woods but came away empty-handed.

The suspect was described as a black man in his mid-20s to early 30s with medium complexion, under 6 feet tall and weighing 180-200 pounds.

He was reported to have demanded money from a teller. Afterward, he left with an undisclosed amount of money.

The helicopter flew over the wooded areas of Stoney Creek north of Elm Street and south and Ash Street until sunset, searching for the suspect, but police eventually gave up the pursuit.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing round wire-rimmed, prescription glasses, a white hat with a short bill and a black, slick hooded pullover.

The Goldsboro Police Department is asking anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255 or investigator Dwayne Dean at 580-4211.
