DUDLEY -- A 22-year-old Dudley man died Saturday in a high-speed wreck on Outlaw Road in southern Wayne County.
Juan Deigo Cruz Esquivel of Caraway Creek Road in Dudley reportedly lost control of his Ford Mustang while traveling on Outlaw Road between Potts Road and Ruskin Road. The wreck occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Esquivel lost control of the car and ran off of the road to the right. When he overcorrected to the left, the car rolled and Esquivel was ejected, according to state Highway Patrol reports.
Esquivel was pronounced dead at the scene when Wayne County emergency services personnel arrived.
Speed was a factor in the victim losing control of the vehicle, Highway Patrol officials reported.
The Highway Patrol estimated that Esquivel was traveling between 85-90 miles per hour when he lost control of the vehicle. The posted speed limit is 45 miles per hour on the section of Outlaw Road where the wreck occurred.
The Dudley Fire Department and Wayne County emergency management services responded to the accident along with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the state Highway Patrol.
