Stewfest

ALBERTSON -- The annual Stewfest to support the Grady-Outlaw Memorial Library in Albertson will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 9 a.m.
The proceeds will be used to purchase new books, media supplies and maintain current expenses, including new computers and Wi-Fi system. The library had two computer classes provided by James Sprunt Community College last year, and is planning on a digital photography class in the future.
All activities will be held on the library lawn at the corner of N.C. 111/903 and Sheep Pasture Road.
Opening ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Stews will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- or as long as they last. Judging of the stews will be by popular vote and will end at 1:15 p.m.
Admission for adults is $7 and includes samples of all the competing stews. Children are $5.
Other refreshments also will be available. Music entertainment will feature beach music, Waterbound Dulcimers and other local talent. Other activities will include a horseshoe tournament and other games, as well as a train ride for children. The library is financed entirely by private donations and is operated entirely by volunteers.
