Scout leader Ken Allen, left, helps Joshua Aycock of Troop 63 use a square and a saw while working on a project at the Tuscarora Council Camporee this past weekend at Camp Tuscarora. More than 450 Scouts attended, along with over 100 leaders, making it the largest such campout in more than a decade, Scout officials said. Because this year is the 100th anniversary of Scouting, the Scouts temporarily brought back several merit badges that had been dropped over the years, including carpentry, tracking and signaling. This Saturday and next, the camp will be filled with Cub Scouts. The council sponsors an annual introductory weekend of camping to new Cubs and expects hundreds to attend, along with leaders and parents.
