Advocate Jennifer Macha helps Casey Thompson decide which card to play while Anthony Barnes looks at his hand during a Phase 10 card game at the Specialized Day Program in the Herman Park Center. Miss Thompson and Barnes are two of the 100 people on average with special needs who make use of the program. Through various activities like yoga, therapeutic walking and games, the Specialized Day Program develops emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive skills in people with special needs. The Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department program is free and for anyone 18 years old or older with special needs whether that need is mental or physical.
