Less than two years after they returned to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, members of the 4th Fighter Wing's 336th Rocketeers are on their way back to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.
Hundreds of members of the unit were scheduled to leave the Goldsboro installation this morning and by the end of the week, their F-15E Strike Eagles and the crews that man them will join them in theater, as they begin a four-month stint in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their charge while deployed: to provide 24/7 air support to Coalition forces on the ground -- watching over convoys, responding to troops-in-contact calls, and, when necessary, dropping ordnance.
