Duplin EMS director resigns

KENANSVILLE -- Duplin County Emergency Services Director Brian Pearce has announced his resignation effective Aug. 27.

Pearce will be taking a job with Cape Fear Valley Health System as the chief/director for Cumberland County EMS and LifeLink Critical Care Transport.

Pearce, who has worked with Duplin County Emergency Services for approximately four years, said he has enjoyed many successes and accomplishments during his tenure.

The EMS system has become nationally known for both winning paramedic competitions and implementing innovative and progressive protocols and procedures for pre-hospital care and transport, he said.

Pearce has also helped to improve the E-911 communications equipment, including updating radios, 911 phones, and moving the dispatch antenna's along with securing a back-up dispatch center location and equipment.

He also worked to consolidate all of the emergency service programs, including moving E911 communications, EMS, emergency management, and the fire marshal's office into one location and cross training all staff to help each other and become more efficient.

Rob McDuffie, EMS operations officer will serve as the interim emergency services director until the position can be filled permanently.
