Child remains in critical condition

MOUNT OLIVE -- An infant injured when she was run over in her yard Wednesday was still in critical condition early today, officials with the state Highway Patrol said.
Jaliyah Garner, who is about 16 months old, was taken by helicopter to Pitt Memorial Hospital after she was accidentally run over by her father, who was moving the family SUV in his driveway on Camp Jubilee road.
Investigators said they believe the child ran around the right side of the vehicle, and apparently got under the wheels.
She was taken first to Wayne Memorial Hospital, then to Pitt.
A Pitt Memorial Hospital spokesman did not immediately return a call early this morning inquiring about her condition.
Burton has said he does not expect any charges to be filed in the accident and that troopers do not believe there was any indication of neglect on the part of the driver.
