SMITHFIELD -- Due to unprecedented high water demand and temporary limitations in the Johnston County water distribution system, the Johnston county manager on Monday issued a water shortage advisory.
While the advisory is in effect, customers are requested to employ voluntary conservation measures to limit water use, especially Class 3 non-essential uses, and to eliminate waste of water.
Class 3 water uses include, but are not limited to, outdoor non-commercial watering and irrigation, private vehicle washing, and fire system testing. A complete list of Class 3, non-essential uses of water is provided on the Johnston County website www.johnstonnc.com.
