Linda Pate, a third-grade teacher at Northeast Elementary School, hugs her student Alana Rising, as fellow student Vanessa Lazaro looks on as students are dismissed for the last day of school. After 30 years working as a teacher including 12 years at Northeast Elementary, Mrs. Pate is retiring from being a teacher. Her plans for retirement are "reading lots of good books and going fishing." "This feels great," she said as students rushed by her to the waiting buses. "I am going to miss it, but I was always told you know when you are ready, and it's time."
