Katlyn Thornton and her sister Karen prepare fresh sweet corn for canning and freezing Wednesday afternoon on their farm on Crowfoot Road in the Grantham community. The harvest season for many home-grown vegetables has begun. For people without gardens, vegetable stands are stocked with beans, peas, potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, squash, okra, cabbage, peppers and tomatoes.
