Armed robbery, assault on a handicapped person
A disabled East Elm Street man was beaten with a large stick by three unidentified males in the 800 block of East Elm Street, according to a Goldsboro police report. Anthony Stokes told suffered minor injury in the attack, the report shows. Stokes told police he was approached by three black males, all wearing white T-shirts, black pants and black shoes. One male said he had a gun and told Stokes to give them everything he had. When Stokes told them he had nothing of value, the men reportedly hit him in the head with a large stick, searched his person for property, then fled south on Elm Street on foot after finding nothing.
Break-ins
*Michael Hammerberg of Legion Lake Drive, Dudley reported Sunday that his home had been broken into and about $1,800 in property was taken. Hammerberg told Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies that he found his front door pried open on Saturday morning, according to a report.
*A Greensboro man told Wayne County Sheriff's Office deputies that he came to visit his Drummersville Road property in Seven Springs and found $3,600 in property taken. Thurman Exum reported that his wife found the home's front door unsecured, and authorities found no signs of forced entry, the report shows. The Sheriff's Office is looking into a person of interest in the investigation, according to the report.
