Wayne County Public Library has recently acquird an online foreign language resource, for those interested in learning a new language or brushing up on one.
Mango is an online language resource. Unlike a book or DVD, it can be accessed through a link on the library's homepage, www.wcpl.org.
The program is free to all library patrons, and offers a fast and convenient way to increase language learning. Each lesson combines real-life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions.
Courses are presented with an appreciation for real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture. Users learn actual conversational elements.
Mango is available in two versions, Mango Complete, a 100-lesson course designed to provide a deep understanding of a language and its culture, and Mango Basic, which teaches everyday greetings and helpful phrases in a short period of time and is ideal for beginners.
Mango Complete is available in nine foreign languages and three ESL courses. The Basic version, which require only two to five hours of time to complete, currently offer 22 foreign languages and 15 English as a Second Language courses.
