Cabbage patch assault
A South Leslie Street man said he was assaulted after confronting a homeless woman ripping cabbage plants out of his garden on Thursday morning, Goldsboro police said.
James Exum, 66, said about 30 plants were pulled from the ground. When he confronted the suspect just after 7 a.m., the woman reportedly struck him in the forehead with a piece of wire, police said. An ambulance responded to Exum's home and treated him for minor injury. The suspect was described as a black woman named "Michelle," about 35 years old, 6-foot-tall with a thin build, wearing a black leather jacket and black jeans. She reportedly walked away from Exum's home headed south on Crawford Street.
Tooth punched out
A Dudley woman lost at least one tooth after being punched in the mouth by an acquaintance while at his Goldsboro home, police said. Nakesha Hardy, 29, of South Running Deer Circle, said she had had an argument on the cell phone with a Franklin Street man while she was at his house. Police advised Ms. Hardy to seek a warrant while she was being treated, and later released, for her injuries at Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report shows. It was not clear from police reports if a warrant had been filed.
