Rec center halted

The Goldsboro City Council, meeting in special session today, voted 4-3 to halt the recreation center project that has been discussed since the former recreation center on Walnut Street was destroyed by fire in 2004. The cost of construction was estimated at about $9 million after contractor bids were opened last week. See Sunday's News-Argus for the complete story.
