Wakefield to speak at Harrison Lecture

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College will hold its 20th annual Vivian B. Harrison Memorial Lecture in Rodgers Chapel on March 16 at 9:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Andrew Wakefield, associate professor of New Testament and Greek and the Lewis Edward and Martha Barnes Tyner Chair of Bible at Campbell University Divinity School.
The topic of his lectures will be "Galatians and the Apocalyptic Gospel." The first lecture will be titled "Salvation According to Paul: Forgiveness Is Not Enough" and his second, "Ethics According to Paul: Life in the Spirit."
Dr. Wakefield is a professor of New Testament Greek, New Testament survey courses, as well as courses on New Testament writings. He serves as the coordinator for Baptist Fellowship of Angier, a mission-centered church focused on serving the children and families of Angier being affected by economic distress. Dr. Wakefield has authored a textbook on New Testament Greek, and is currently writing a commentary on Galatians. He has also served as interim pastor, guest preacher and teacher in Baptist churches across North Carolina.
Dr. Wakefield earned his bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University, a master's degree in Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. from Duke University.
The Vivian B. Harrison Lecture was established by the Reverend Frank R. Harrison in memory of his late wife. The purpose of the lecture is to provide a medium for continuing education for the ministers and laypersons of North Carolina.
