Mount Olive man shot in domestic dispute

A Mount Olive man was treated and released Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after being shot during a domestic dispute.
Kristian Whitfield, 37, of Silver Street in Mount Olive was reportedly shot in the side yesterday shortly before 11 a.m. during a domestic disturbance at a residence. Rescue vehicles were called to a location on Franklin Street in Mount Olive to transport Whitfield to the hospital for treatment.
No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Whitfield's family was notified after the shooting.
Mount Olive police alleged that the victim was arguing with a female and pushed her down before he was shot. Police did not disclose any suspects in the shooting.
The incident is still under investigation. Maj. Brian Rhodes of the Mount Olive Police Department is handling the investigation.
