Nursing home maintenance chief charged

A Dudley man who worked as the maintenance director at a local nursing home has been charged with fencing power tools from Britthaven of Goldsboro on Wayne Memorial Drive.
Bernard Keith Upchurch, 48, of Herring Road, Dudley was charged with felony conversion and jailed under a $5,000 unsecured bond, Detective Lt. Carl Lancaster and Capt. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
